As we sipped on lavender lemonade in Scratch a few months back, I listened to Kathryn excitedly describe the plans for her upcoming wedding day. Inspired by her love of all things French, she had decided on blush and gold as her colors for the day. She detailed how she created the perfect wedding dress for her day – having the top from one favorite gown combined with the bottom of another favorite – as her best friend and Matron of Honor, Hannah, squealed with delight in sharing their top secret photos of Kathryn in the dress.
A few weeks before the wedding, we all met up again, this time at Kathryn’s grandparent’s impeccably decorated home in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Kathryn absolutely floated in her custom, jaw-dropping blush gown, walking the same hallways she had played dress-up in as a child. She donned her mother’s earrings and gold comb, all while loving on her sweet cat, Gigi.
Photographing Kathryn in this beautiful, meaningful setting in her dress was just like a dream. I adore every image from this shoot, but perhaps not one more than Kathryn sitting in the hallway with her grandmother’s portrait hanging behind her with the same expression on their faces, her grandmother watching over her sweet girl.
